ABOUT DBT ALBERTA

Clinical structure with enough humanity to feel like therapy.

DBT Alberta is part of STG Health Services Inc. The service brings together counselling, psychotherapy, psychology, skills training, and structured DBT pathways for clients in Alberta.

OUR CLINICAL APPROACH

Acceptance and change are both part of the work.

Understand the function

We look at why a behaviour or response makes sense in context before deciding what needs to change.

Practise observable alternatives

Treatment focuses on specific skills and behaviours that can be used in the situations where the old pattern appears.

Review whether treatment is working

Targets, functioning, outcomes, client feedback, and clinical risk inform whether the plan should continue or change.

THE STG HEALTH TEAM

Meet the clinicians.

Assignment is based on scope, clinical fit, availability, insurance or funding requirements, and the treatment pathway. The full team is not involved in every service.

WHAT CLIENTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO EXPECT

Clear scope, clear boundaries, and clear next steps.

Clear service definition

Know whether you are receiving comprehensive DBT, individual therapy, skills training, guided care, or another pathway.

Informed consent

Understand goals, methods, privacy, risks, communication boundaries, fees, and alternatives.

Secure care

Use appropriate systems for appointments, messaging, learning materials, and clinical information.

Coordination with consent

Communication with physicians or other professionals occurs when clinically useful and authorized.

Ethical referral

If STG cannot safely or effectively meet the need, another provider or level of care may be recommended.

Credential clarity

We identify the clinician providing the service and the credentials relevant to the treatment and your coverage questions.

WHEN YOU ARE READY

You can work out the next step with us.

Tell us what has been difficult and what you hope to change. A clinician reviews your needs and explains the recommended support, practical arrangements, and next steps.
